Our group goes from strength to strength

Every year in August, 9th Brunswick Scouts holds its Annual Report, Awards and Presentations dinner in the Scout hall. This year’s event was held on Saturday, August 11.

The meeting was told that the group is growing and in good shape, with the recent formation of a new Joeys mob under the care of Sunny Aguilar a real highlight. The Joeys began in July with five members.

The Cubs regularly have up to 30 members on a Monday night, and a number of our Cubs attended the statewide Cuboree at Gilwell Park in late-2017. Many Cubs have earned badges but special mention must be made of Lizzie Deakin who completed all the requirements to be awarded her Grey Wolf award in June.

The Scouts have also grown over the past year and have had a plenty of activities, including the Cohen Shield, the Stradbroke Cup, Gilweroo, and a couple of district hikes.

Highlights for the Rovers included two members meeting Sir Charles Kingsford Smith’s son, Charles, and two members taking part in the Gang Show.

ARAP also saw the unveiling of two new honour boards, and we were fortunate to have present four award recipients, pictured above: Callum Lanchbery (Grey Wolf), Jude Angove (Grey Wolf and Australian Scout Medallion), Polly Hine (Queen’s Scout Award), David Brace (Baden Powell Award).
